Nakano Udon School
Udon is one of the staple foods of the residents of Kagawa, and people travel from all over Japan to eat udon here. It’s known for its toothsome firmness and its superior flavour, whose secret lies in the high-protein variety of wheat produced in the area.
The Nakano Udon School, located on the approach to Konpira Shrine, is a popular place to make and eat udon.
Here you’re given a block of dough to be worked into the finished product. It’s placed in a plastic bag, which you knead by dancing on it for a while (for about as long as the song ‘YMCA’). You then cut the udon into noodles, cook and eat it with a dipping sauce.
This makes a good lunchtime activity between sights in Kagawa.
