Temple 67, Daikō-ji
Daiko-ji is temple No. 67 on the Shikoku pilgrimage. The temple is located in the countryside on the outskirts of Kannonji. The huge camphor tree in the compound is said to have been planted by Kukai. The statue is of Tendai Daishi, the Chinese founder of T’ien-t’ai Buddhism. The temple has Daishido Halls for both the Shingon and Tendai sects.
Like many other temples, this temple was burned by the warriors of Chosokabe Motochika in the 16th century.
