Lapis Oboke (Yokai Zashiki)

The Oboke-Koboke region of Tokushima is associated with all sorts of goblins and ghosts, collectively called ‘yokai’. In olden times, the region, whose name means ‘big danger and little danger’, was very hazardous both for its residents and its visitors, and the legends concerning beguiling, but lethal spirits associated with various places grew up to warn people away from danger.
