Located close to the moat of Kōchi Castle, the upper floors of the museum offer a fine view over the castle. The museum itself is a beautiful example of modern Japanese architecture using traditional materials such as stone and tile.

The exhibits explain the history of Kōchi city, its castle, and the main characters involved. Some of the exhibits are labeled in English.
