Temple 34, Tanema-ji
Tanema-ji is temple No. 34 on the Shikoku pilgrimage. Its name means ‘seed planting’. Kobo Daishi is said to have planted seeds from China at this temple when he founded it.
Many women pray here for an easy childbirth, and those women who have had their prayers answered customarily donate water dippers to the temple with their bottoms knocked out.
