We depart from Matsuyama and visit the Nomura Silk Museum where we learn about the culture of silk worms in Ehime’s southern mountains. The high-quality silk produced here was traded around the world from this isolated rural region. You can see the only place in western Japan where raw silk is wound onto reels from cocoons.
After a delicious seafood lunch in the port of Yawatahama, we visit the Nisshin Hall, a huge silkworm hatchery that remains as it was a century ago.
