Kameizumi Brewery

Fruity yet dry sake from ‘the spring that never dries up’

Kameizumi Brewery

Kameizumi Brewery stands at the foot of Mt. Hage among the rice fields beside the Hage River in Tosa. The brewery was founded in 1897. Kameizumi means the ‘spring of the tortoise’, and since tortoises are a symbol of longevity, the name suggests ‘the spring that never dries up’. Sakamoto Ryoma is said to have been a devotee of the brand.

The brewery actively uses sake rice from Kochi prefecture, such as Tosa Nishiki, Gin no Yume, and Kaze Naruko and the latest yeast developed at the Kochi Prefectural Industrial Technology Centre. It has a fruity scent reminiscent of melons and bananas, with a clean and dry taste that cuts across the sweet scent.

Kameizumi has a tasting room.
